Kathrin Neimke

Kathrin Neimke ( born July 18, 1966 in Magdeburg ) is a former German track and field athlete and Olympic medalist, who belonged in the 1980s and 1990s to the world's best shot putters inside. By 1990 they started for the GDR. Her achievements are the two Olympic medals she won in consecutive games: the silver medal at the 1988 Olympic Games in Seoul and the bronze medal at the 1992 Olympic Games in Barcelona. For their success at the Olympics in Seoul, she was awarded the Patriotic Order of Merit in silver.

Kathrin Neimke competed for the SC Magdeburg and trained with Klaus Schneider. She is 1.80 m tall, and in their active time she weighed 95 kg. She has a degree as a commercial clerk, and had until the end of their sporting career a job as a repro photographer at a daily newspaper. Then she went to the country's riot police Saxony- Anhalt.
