Kaunas Airport ( lit. Kauno oro uostas ) is a centrally located in Lithuania airport near the city of Kaunas in Karmėlava.

Flight operations in 1988 moved from the airfield Aleksotas here. In 2008, a modern terminal was opened. The airport is particularly important for the large Lithuanian immigrant community in the UK and Ireland since accession to the EU an important link in the home. He has the longest airstrip in Lithuania and modern control systems.

Airlines and destinations

Kaunas is as of November 2013, from German speaking countries served by direct flights: Ryanair flies from Frankfurt- Hahn Airport. Ryanair is the main users of the airport and fly to London -Stansted, London -Gatwick, Barcelona - Girona, Brussels - Charleroi, Dublin, London Luton and Liverpool. The Latvian Air Baltic connects Kaunas daily via Riga Airport with further objects. Until its bankruptcy in 2005 was the home airport of Kaunas Air Lithuania.
