Kawasaki C-2

The Kawasaki C-2 is a military transport aircraft of the Japanese manufacturer Kawasaki.

History

The development of the machine began in 2001 on behalf of the Japanese armed forces. Called the XC -2 prototype of the Kawasaki C-2 was launched on January 26, 2010 from Gifu airbase with Captain Satoshi Hasebe and co-pilot Susumu Ishida to its 71 -minute maiden flight. This was actually already planned for September 2006, but problems with the strength of the hull, the loading dock, the main landing gear and the tailplane delayed the project considerably. Originally called the CX machine to replace from 2013 Kawasaki C-1 and C-130 Hercules. The C-2 will be able to start from relatively short and unprepared runways. At full load, however, it requires a runway length of at least 2300 m. The manufacturer plans to derive from the C -2 a civilian cargo plane.

On 26 January 2010, the first flight took place and a first test machine to the Japanese Ministry of Defense was delivered on 30 March 2010.

Construction

The aircraft is a twin-engine high-wing monoplane with a T-tail and a large tailgate. Despite clear external differences, the C-2 shares many technical components with the Maritime Patrol Kawasaki XP -1. This includes the basic construction of the wing, the cockpit and many electrical subsystems.
