Kawasaki P-1

Kawasaki XP -1 (initially referred to as PX ) is a designated as a replacement for the Lockheed P-3C Seeraumüberwachungsflugzeug for the Japanese sea Self-Defense Forces, which was developed by Kawasaki Heavy Industries.

Development and Design

The development of the aircraft began in 2001. Similar to the British Aerospace Nimrod and S-3 Viking is the XP -1 is a jet powered aircraft for anti-submarine - hunting. It shares some components with the same time developed and intended as a replacement of the Kawasaki C- 1 and C- 130H transport aircraft Kawasaki C-2. Is powered low-wing four turbofan engines of the type XF7 -10, developed by Ishikawajima - Harima Heavy Industries. The advanced flight control system has Artificial Intelligence and the pilot can calculate and display the best course to attack discovered submarines. The control of the aircraft over fly-by -light which, compared with fly-by -wire systems reduces electromagnetic interference, which is for the detection of submarines by magnetic field measurements is of great importance. At sensors the aircraft except magnetic field sensors has a radar with active electronic beam scanning, infrared and video detection systems.

History

The first flight of the machine took place September 28, 2007 at the Gifu Air Base held in Inuyama. It is planned to build about 80 aircraft at a unit price of about $ 140 million.
