Kawasaki KH-4

The Kawasaki KH- 4 was a multi-purpose helicopter of the Japanese manufacturer Kawasaki Heavy Industries which was further developed from the Bell 47.

History and construction

The KH- 4 was a further development of the Kawasaki since 1952 license-built Bell 47 The most visible difference between the KH -4 and its predecessor, was the new fully enclosed enlarged cabin that had removable side doors and room for three passengers on a bench offered behind the pilot's seat. The helicopter was equipped with a new control, revised instrumentation and larger tanks.

A total of 211 KH -4 were produced, including four that have been converted from existing Bell 47G. The vast number was bought by civilian operators, acquired some also by the Japanese and Thai armed forces.
