Kazimierz Alchimowicz

Kazimierz Alchimowicz ( born December 20 1840 in Dziembrów in Grodno, † December 31, 1916 in Warsaw) was a Polish painter.

Life

1863 Alchimowicz took part as a soldier in the January Uprising, for which he was deported to the east of the Urals. In 1869 he returned to Warsaw and began an art training at Wojciech Gerson. Subsequently, he studied from 1873 to 1875 in Munich under Professor Alexander Wagner. From 1877 he worked in Warsaw.

Kazimierz Alchimowicz is regarded as one of the last romantics in Polish painting. Among other things he illustrated with a series of twelve paintings and prints the poem Pan Tadeusz by Adam Mickiewicz.
