Kazumi Matsuo

Kazumi Matsuo (Japanese松尾 和美, Kazumi Matsuo; born April 18, 1974 in Kobe ) is a former Japanese marathon runner who is known by her surprise victory at the Berlin Marathon 2000 in Germany.

In 1999, she won the Hokkaido Marathon in 2:32:14, the 2000 Berlin Marathon in 2:26:15, and the following year she was by her victory at the Nagoya Marathon with her personal best of 2:26:01 Japanese Marathon champion. In a marathon, the World Athletics Championships 2001 in Edmonton then she took ninth place in 2:29:57.

In 2002 she married and retired from the sport.
