Kedr

ARISSat -1 or Kedr (Russian кедр for cedar after Yuri Gagarin's callsign during the Vostok 1 mission ) was a Russian amateur radio satellite as part of the ARISS project.

Originally, the satellite should get the name Radioskaf 2 because he ( Suitsat ) should be integrated with a disused space suit similar to the previous project Radioskaf. However, during the development of the satellite was an independent structure with solar panels.

ARISSat - 1 contained a linear transponder for two-way communication, voice, SSTV, telegraphy and data downlinks as well as an experiment at the Technical University of Kursk. The satellite, the Russian callsign RS01S was assigned.

The satellite was launched with a Progress cargo to the Space Station on 28 January 2011. On August 3, 2011, he was released there in a spacewalk by Russian cosmonaut Sergei Volkov. The exposure had first delayed because there were problems with one of the two antennas. On 4 January 2012, the satellite entered the Earth's atmosphere and burned up.

As subsatellite the ISS, the satellite was carrying a derived COSPAR designation 1998 - 067CK, which suggests a start in 1998, although ARISSat -1 was only in 2011 transported there. In addition, the satellite was also cataloged under the NSSDC ID 2011- 004C, which identifies him as the payload of a start in 2011.
