The Keisei Narita Airport Line (Japanese京 成 成田空港 线, Keisei Narita Kuko - sen) is a Japanese railway line between the stations at Keisei - Takasago and the airport train station at Tokyo Narita Airport. The route will be operated by the private Keisei Dentetsu, which markets the new track under the name of Narita Sky Access (Japanese成田 スカイ アクセス, Narita sukai akusesu ).

History

When they started with the construction of the second international airport in Narita Tokyo, had the Keisei Dentetsu already with the Keisei Main Line connects from Ueno to Narita city center ( about eight kilometers from the airport ). They therefore built 1970-1972 around a 7.2 km long branch which anband underground the new airport. Today's Station Airport Narita had been built, however, between the two terminals 1 and 2, what the Skyliner Keisei offer to passengers due to the required switchover made unpopular on buses at the airport.

Also, Japanese National Railways ( JNR ) had plans to connect the airport with the Narita Shinkansen with a high quality rail link to Tokyo. However, these plans were thwarted by the resistance of the local population and the extreme debt situation of the state railway. After the privatization and splitting of JNR who built Bauvorleistungen to the Narita Airport Rapid Railway Co., Ltd. were. overwritten, a joint venture between JR East and Keisei Dentetsu. Until 1991, the Company took the nine kilometer long section of which had been built for the Narita Shinkansen at the airport, completed and connected to the networks of JR East and Keisei. In this context, also the built in carcass airport station was completed under Terminal 2, which was henceforth used by Narita Express ( N'EX ) by JR East and the Skyliner Keisei of.

Compared to the formerly planned Narita Shinkansen, the two conventional rail services have, however, almost twice as long with just an hour's drive. Cause of the relatively long travel time was that the old stock routes have been used, for historical reasons, do not constitute the shortest route to Tokyo and also have a variety of curves, so that the traveling speed was low. Since the JR companies focused on other projects after their privatization, 2002, inter alia, of the airport company Narita Narita Rapid Rail Access the Co. Ltd.. (Japanese成田 高速 鉄道 アクセス 株式会社) founded, which aimed to establish a direct, designed for 160 km / h high-speed rail from Tokyo to Narita. The construction of the Narita airport line started in 2006 and was completed in 2010. Here, from the 51.4 km long route only 19.1 km new railway line was built. In addition, a portion of the mitgenutzter Hokusō line was upgraded. The existing routes in the access to the airport and the underground railway lines at the airport could be used unchanged. A total of ¥ 126 billion was invested.
