Kemopetrol

Kemopetrol is a Finnish pop / rock band from Helsinki, which has been named after the Czech Hockey Team Chemopetrol Litvinov.

The band members are singer Laura Närhi, drummer Teemu Nordman, guitarist Marko Soukka and keyboardist Kalle Koivisto, who also writes the songs for Kemopetrol. All lyrics are written in English.

In addition to numerous appearances in Finland, the band has already played in Spain, Italy, France, Russia, England and Germany.

Band History

Marko Soukka and Kalle Koivisto have Kemopetrol founded in November 1998 - originally as an ambient project. In December of the same year Kalle Koivisto Laura Närhi met at a party. Later he played her before some songs he had written. Thereupon, Laura joined the band in January 1999. She was followed in the same year the drummer Teemu Nordman and bassist Kari Myöhänen. In the following July, the band went into the studio.

Kemopetrols first single Child Is My Name was released towards the end of 1999 and was a huge success for the band as well as the newly founded indie label Plastinka and also the breakthrough for the Finns.

In 2000, her debut album Slowed Down was released. The album contains a mix of rock and jazz elements, which was combined with electronic music. In 2001, a 2- CD edition of the album Slowed Down to the market. One of the two CDs is identical with the debut album while they are on the other CD remixes and live versions of the songs.

In March 2002 the single Saw It On TV was released two months later and the related album Everything 's Fine. 2004, the single My Superstar and the album Play For Me came out. Since Kari Myöhänen had previously left the band in playing Kemopetrols producer Kalle Chydenius on these publications, the bass. Shortly after the release of Play For Me came Lauri Hämäläinen as a new solid bass player to the band.

The fourth album of the band, Teleport, was released on 29 March 2006. He was preceded on March 8, the single planet. The latest album has disco influences of the 80s, including synthesizers use from this very time.

2008 Kemopetrol involved with the song En tahdo sinua enää in Finnish on the tribute album melkein vieraissa for Leevi and the leavings.

Laura Närhi sings solo incidentally also. She has contributed to the soundtrack of the film Kuutamolla the song Se Ei Mee Pois. In addition, she has Alimo & Control lent her voice for the song Tarkkaillaan. Both songs, Se Ei Mee Pois and Tarkkaillaan, have Finnish texts. Her solo album Suuri sydän was released in August 2010.
