Kenan

Kenan is a biblical figure in the Old Testament. His name contains the same root as Cain, the interpretation as "blacksmith" but only represents a folk etymology

Kenan is the eldest son of Enosh and grandson of the set. According to Gen 5.9 to 14 EU his father was 90 years old when he begot him. He himself, however, was at the age of 70 years for the first time father. He named his eldest son Mahalaleel. He then said to have lived for 840 years and have had many other sons and daughters. Kenan thus died at the age of 910 years.

Kenan is mentioned in the genealogy of Jesus in Luke 3.37 EU.
