Kępa, Opole Voivodeship

Kempa (Polish Kępa ) is a village in Opole Voivodeship in Poland and is located north of the city of Opole. The village belongs to the municipality Lugnian (Polish Łubniany ).

History

The first written mention of the village dates back to the year 1254. In 1337 the village was referred to in a deed as " Campy". By the year 1514 the village was under the care of Bohemian knights. Then the village was sold.

In 1725 lived in Kempa only seven farming families. The development of the village was inhibited by several fires in the coming decades. In 1782, the village again then scored 13 houses. As of 1784, the village had already 218 people.

In the plebiscite in Upper Silesia on March 20, 1921 the majority voted for the connection to the Polish state. In 1925, the village of 100 houses with 641 inhabitants. From 1936 to 1945 the village mill creek OS. Was in 1939, there were 734 people.

After the war, the number of inhabitants decreased initially. 1965 lived here again 779 people. In recent years, Kempa became a popular suburb of Opole. More and more people are moving out of the city and buy some land in Kempa. Today, it is home to around 800 people.
