Kerewan ( spelling variant: Kerevane ) is a village in the West African state of Gambia and by 2010 the seat of the administrative unit North Bank Region.

According to a calculation for 2013 there live about 3534 inhabitants, the result of the last published census in 1993 was 3403rd

Geography

Kerewan, formerly headquarters of the administrative unit North Bank region and is situated in the district of Lower Baddibu, lies on the north bank of the Gambia, on a side with the name Mini Mini Yang Bolong (according to other sources Jowara Bolong or Koular Bolong in Senegal) and about 50 kilometers east away from the capital Banjul and 50 kilometers west of Farafenni. The typical landscape is swamp and further away from the river the savanna. The North Bank Road that leads to Farafenni and thus crosses the North Bank Region, is not paved, but it should be expanded to in 2007.
