Kerretta

Kerretta is a New Zealand rock band from Auckland. The band members are bassist William Waters, drummer H. Walker and guitarist David Holmes. The music style of the band is compared with that of the bands Mogwai and Russian Circles. Often Kerretta is the music genre associated with post-rock. History

Kerretta was established in mid-2005, consisting of the members Avotor (H. Walker), Meterman ( William Waters) and David Holmes, who worked as a producer of bands like Jacob and An Emerald City. The first release, the single Death in the Future / Wisnierska, appeared in December 2007 on Midium Records.

At the beginning of 2008, the Antient EP was recorded with producer Dale Cotton. At the same time Kerreta were the opening act for bands such as The Breeders and ... And You Will Know Us by the Trail of Dead and have been invited to festivals such as Big Day Out. In 2009 they had the self-produced debut album Vilayer at the German music label Golden Antenna. This was followed by a nomination for the Taite Music Prize 2010, the New Zealand equivalent of the British Mercury Prize, and a tour with the Japanese post-rock band Mono. 2010 Kerretta toured through North America with a performance at the South by Southwest festival in Austin, Texas.

2011 appeared the second album Saansilo on Golden Antenna Records. It was followed by a European tour in the winter of 2012. Fühling In 2013 Kerretta are again on a European tour.
