Kersten Hausen is a district of Borken in the Schwalm -Eder -Kreis.

History

The first written mention of the village dates from the year 1044 " Christinehysen " in an issued certificate in Gander home, which is now in the State Archives of Lucerne.

In 1344 the village "Klein Kersten Hausen " belonging Margaret Church is first mentioned. Small Kersten Hausen was on the road today from Arnsbach by Kersten Hausen. Small Kersten Hausen shrank over the centuries into a single farm and was mentioned in 1578 for the last time. The Margarethe church fell into ruin, and in consequence a new church was built in (large ) Kersten Hausen. Documented are the new church in 1742 and a renovation of the sanctuary in 1864.

Until the opening of the railway line Marburg -Kassel in 1850 was in Kersten Hausen an important coaching inn, since the place is located on one of the oldest German postal routes. In the Middle Ages the Cassel - Frankfurter Street was an important north -south connection. The road from Fritzlar by Kersten Hausen, today section of the national highway 3, was built from 1803 to 1804; there were found below the dog castle hill graves and grave urns. From 1807 to 1814 Kersten Hausen belonged to the Kingdom of Westphalia, and the French government ordered the construction of additional " coaching " at the track Kassel- Frankfurt.
