Keskvere ( German Keskfer ) is a village (Estonian küla ) in the rural community Martna ( Martna vald ) in Lääne in Estonia.

Population and location

The village has 29 inhabitants ( 31 December 2011). It is located 21 kilometers south-east of the district capital of Haapsalu. Through the village the river Rannamõisa ( Rannamõisa Jõgi ), which empties into the Bay of Matsalu flows.

History

Around the beginning of the 16th century, the place was a prebend of the canons of Haapsalu. For a long time the estate owned by the aristocratic Baltic German family Ungern- Sternberg.

Around the middle of the 18th century single storey manor house of the local Guts of wood originated. This single storey home is reminiscent of a farm estate, but interpret details on an aristocratic ownership back. It shows baroque features. The mantle chimney and two Baroque stoves are historical. Besides the main house, some outbuildings remain.

In the complex there is now a cultural center ( Keskvere Kultuurikoda ).
