Kevin S. Bright

Kevin S. Bright ( born 1955 in New York City ) is an American producer and director for television series. His most famous productions include the series Friends and their spin-off Joey.

Life

Brights career began under the guidance of his father Jackie. After he had taken his degree at Emerson College, he worked in New York with Joseph Cates. There, he produced special shows for George Burns, Johnny Cash, David Copperfield and Dolly Parton. After moving to Los Angeles in 1982, he began to produce comedies such as The History of White People in America and special appearances for Robin Williams, Martin Mull, Harry Shearer, Paul Shaffer and Merrill Markoe.

1993 Bright graduated with Marta Kauffman and David Crane, together, founded the Bright / Kauffman / Crane Productions and went a deal with Warner Brothers to produce a Friends. Bright himself also took over the directed more than 50 episodes of the series.

After Friends, he devoted himself to the production of the Friends spin-off Joey, together with the Friends producers Shana Goldberg - Meehan and Scott Silveri. The show was canceled after the second season due to low rates.

After this failure Bright went back to his college town and taught at the local Emerson College. He held several courses on producing and directing sitcoms. He also produced two sitcoms for college television.
