Kevin Thiele

Kevin Richard Thiele (* 1958 in Western Australia ) is an Australian botanist. His botanical author abbreviation is " KRThiele ".

Professional life

Thiele received in 1993 a Ph.D. in botany from the University of Melbourne.

He is employed as a curator at the Western Australian Herbarium in Perth. He studied mainly grassy systematics of the plant families of the silver tree plants, buckthorn plants and the violet plants and conservation biology of the ecosystem, light forest. He also deals with biodiversity and computer science is the design of software for the Global Biodiversity Facility Infrastructure involved.

Since 1993, Thiele has also published a number of descriptions of plant species, especially from the family of buckthorn plants, for the "Flora of Australia". Together with Pauline Chocoholics he wrote in 1996, " Taxonomy of banksia ". In 2007 he worked with Austin Mast at the transfer of the genus Dryandra in the genre of Banksia.
