Khalid Boulahrouz [ χalid bula ( h) ru ː z] ( born December 28, 1981 in Maassluis ) is a Dutch footballer of Moroccan origin. Since 2013 he is the Danish first division club Brøndby IF under contract.
Career
Association
As a teenager Boulahrouz was active among others at Ajax Amsterdam and played from 2001 for the RKC Waalwijk in the Dutch Eredivisie.
From 2004 to 2006 the defender was wearing the jersey of Hamburger SV. There, the son of a Moroccan family became thanks to his fighting qualities quickly become firm favorites. In his first Bundesliga season graduated from the " Cannibal ", as he is known for his aggressive style of play, 24 games for the HSV and scored a goal.
At the beginning of the 2006/2007 season, he spent about 13 million euros to Chelsea. During this change, he fell into negative headlines for allegedly faking a serious injury at the Champions League qualifier of HSV against CA Osasuna in order to complete any European game of the HSV and thus to be in this competition to play for Chelsea. At Chelsea but he was due to higher competition a not so successful as in HSV, he often sat on the bench or was completely removed from the squad.
For the 2007/08 season he was loaned for one year for Sevilla FC. The club had for Boulahrouz a purchase option over 8 million euros. There, too, his sporting situation did not improve. During the season, he came only to six inserts in the league (the last thereof already on matchday 10 ), in a national cup competition and one further in the Champions League qualifiers and group stage.
On 21 July 2008 Boulahrouz moved from Chelsea to VfB Stuttgart. After he was not always at VfB in the first seasons 2008-2011 for use (never more than 21 games per season, long injury lay-off 2009/10), he was at the beginning of the season 2011/12 starting players and scored on 8 Round (30. September 2011) in the 2-0 away win against 1 FC Kaiserslautern in the 50th game for the VfB, his total of 102 Bundesliga game, his second Bundesliga goal.
On May 3, 2012, the VfB Stuttgart announced that they would not extend the 30 June 2012 expiring contract with Boulahrouz.
On July 18, 2012 Khalid Boulahrouz signed with Sporting Lisbon, a two-year contract with an option for another season. After he came in the league only eleven times used, he let the contract on September 2, 2013 dissolve in the hope of finding a new club free transfer. On October 7, 2013, the Danish first division club Brøndby IF him committed until the end of Season 2013 / 14th
National
On 3 September 2004 he was in the 3-0 win over Liechtenstein his debut for the Dutch national team. At the 2006 World Cup, he was employed in all four games, but looked lost in second round after repeated challenge the yellow card. Also at the European Championship 2008, he was part of the squad of Oranje and stood in all four games on the court.
Private
Boulahrouz married in December 2006, the Turkish-born Sabia Thele. During the European Football Championship 2008, born three months early couple's daughter died a day after birth. In the subsequent quarter-final match against Russia, in which Boulahrouz was in the starting lineup, the Dutch national team therefore played with black armbands.
In March 2010, the couple had a daughter again, a year later a son, in January 2013 the separation. Sabia Boulahrouz moved a little later with the children to Rafael van der Vaart.
