Kharis Yunichev

Charis Charissowitsch Junitschew (Russian Харис Харисович Юничев; born August 7, 1931 in Sochi, † February 12, 2006 ) was a Russian swimmer.

Life

Junitschew was a member of the swimming club Burevestnik Sochi. In 1956 he was a member of the contingent of the Soviet Union for the Summer Olympic Games in Melbourne. In the competition over 200 meters breaststroke, he won the bronze medal behind the two Japanese Furukawa and Yoshimura. In the final he delivered himself with Yoshimura a close race for second place, which he lost a tenth of a second behind at the end.
