Khorzhak Monastery

Khorchag Gönpa (Tibetan: 'khor chags dgon pa, Tibetan: འཁོར་ཆགས་དགོན་པ་, Korqag Monastery ) is a Buddhist monastery in the municipality of the same name in the south of the district Burang ( Purang ) in government Ngari Prefecture in the Tibet Autonomous Region the People's Republic of China. The original buildings of the west often among the Nepalese name " Khojarnath " (also: Kojarnath, Khorja Gompa ) famous monastery dates back to the year 996 According to the Tibetan tradition, it is of Rinchen Zangpo ( rin chen bzang po, 958-1055 ) founded the great translator of the western Tibetan kingdom of Guge.

The monastery stands since 2001 on the monument list the People's Republic of China ( 5-410 ).
