Khosro Harandi
Khosro Sheikh Harandi ( born September 11, 1950) is an Iranian chess player. Since 1975 he bears the title of International Master.
He is a multiple champion and was a member of the Iranian national team in five Chess Olympiads:
- At the Chess Olympiad 1970 in Siegen on the fourth board ( 6, -3, = 10);
- At the Chess Olympiad 1972 in Skopje on first board ( 8, -3, = 11);
- At the Chess Olympiad 1974 in Nice on the first board ( 10, -6, = 4);
- At the Chess Olympiad 1976 in Haifa on the second board ( 5, -3, = 5);
- At the Chess Olympiad in 1990 in Novi Sad on first board ( 4, -3, = 6).
He also represented Iran at the 19th student - team World Cup in Graz 1972 ( 6, -3, = 3) and the Asian Team Championship in 1991 in Penang ( 5, -3, = 1).
Harandi won two tournaments zone in Tehran (1975 and 1978) and qualified for the subsequent inter-zonal tournaments. Interzonal in Manila in 1976, he took a share of 18th - 20th Place; Henrique da Costa Mecking won. In 1977, he finished shared first - third Place in Netanya. In 1978 he finished fourth split - fifth Place in Baguio. Interzonal 1979 in Rio de Janeiro, he was 15; Lajos Portisch, Tigran Petrosian and Robert Hübner won.
End of the 1980s, he played briefly for the English Chess Federation. His highest Elo rating was 2430 in 1988 and 1989.
