Khwaja Shahabuddin

Khawaja Shahabuddin ( born May 31, 1898 in Dhaka, † February 9, 1977 in Karachi) was a Pakistani politician and diplomat.

Biography

Khawaja Shahabuddin came from a family of Nawabs and was the younger brother of Khawaja Nazimuddin, the Governor General of the Dominion of Pakistan from 1948 to 1951 and Prime Minister of 1951 until 1953.

Shahabuddin himself was between 1948 to 1951 Minister of the Interior in the government of Prime Minister Liaquat Ali Khan. After his assassination on 16 October 1951, he was appointed by his brother as governor of the NWFP (North -West Frontier Province ). This office he held until 1954.

In 1954, he joined the diplomatic service and was ambassador to Saudi Arabia. As such, he was accredited to 1958 as ambassador in Yemen. In 1958 he was appointed ambassador to the United Arab Republic (UAR ).

Last time was Khawaja Shahabuddin 1961-1964 High Commissioner in Nigeria. At the same time he was accredited at this time as Ambassador to Cameroon, Senegal, Sierra Leone and Togo.
