History

There were originally at the site of the present dam behind the other four smaller ponds that had been built for the mining industry. Two of them were broken in 1901 and 1944 respectively, and the remaining was in a bad state. Therefore, it was built 1989-1994 on the site of the lowest dam, a new, increased, dam. The middle two were dismantled and the top, which was built in 1703 Kilian Upper Pond, developed as a pre-dam.

Originally created as Trinkwasserresere, the dam is used today for flood protection and low water levels. The water table is at full back to 440.5 m above sea level.
