Kilverbach

The Kilverbach in the upper reaches at Roedinghausen

The Kilverbach (or more rarely Kollbach ) is a 8.4 km long left tributary of the Else in northeastern German state of North Rhine -Westphalia and in southern Lower Saxony.

The alternative, however, rather uncommon name Kollbach officially designated actually just a left tributary, which flows at stream km 7.4 in the Kilverbach. The Kilverbach is around 7 km, the border between Roedinghausen and Melle and North Rhine -Westphalia and Lower Saxony dar. The creek rises near the village of Roedinghausen on the slopes of Wiehengebirge and then flows south through the Kilverbachtal. The source height is 149 m. In Bach 6.4 km leads an eponymous, right-side tributary in the Kilverbach. The Kilverbach drained after 8.4 km river length in Bruchmühlen in the Else (Else km 19.5 ). The opening height is around 68 m. To stream system includes numerous tributaries. It thus overcomes some 81 meters. The Kilverbachtal and the floodplains of the tributaries form an extensive Sieksystem with natural waters the upper and middle reaches.

Flora and Fauna

The floodplains are often obtained as moist or wet grassland and are usually passed with alders. At the relatively steep slopes of the box-shaped Sieke grow dominated by beech copses, beech in the upper reaches also. Originally went to the creek in the middle of the valley, but was postponed at the creation Sieken centuries ago for better use of space on the side of the toe of the slope. In the upper reaches of both sides standing head pastures dominate the landscape.

History

The Kilverbach marked 1807-1811 the border between France and the Kingdom of Westphalia, and was a long time before and after the state border between the Kingdom of Hanover and the Prince-Bishopric of Osnabrück and Prussia.
