Kim Hyang-mi

Kim Hyang -mi (born 19 September 1979) is a North Korean table tennis player who won the silver in women's singles at the 2004 Olympic Games.

Kim Hyang -mi plays with the shakehand service grip and preferred topspin with the forehand.

International success

In 1996, the nearly 17 -year-old Kim Hyang -mi qualified for the first time to participate in the Summer Olympics, but where she was eliminated in the first round in singles and doubles with Son Mi.

From 1999 to 2005 she was nominated four times for the World Championships. They reached the 2001 quarter-finals in doubles. In the same year she was eligible to play at the ITTF Pro Tour Grand Finals in doubles. With Kim Hyon -hui, she took second place.

In 2004, she was able to start again at the Olympics with the help of a wildcard. This time, she won the silver medal in singles. She was defeated in the final of Chinese Zhang Yining 4-0. In doubles, she came up with Kim Hyon -hui to the quarterfinals.

In September 2004, she was out in the ITTF world rankings at number 17.
