Kim Il-jin

Kim Il -jin (* 1956 in Manpo ) is a North Korean conductor.

He studied cello at the University of Music and Dance in Pyongyang and conducting at the Moscow Conservatory. In Germany he attended conducting courses. For his conducting, he received in 1985 in West Berlin, a 2nd prize ( the first prize was not awarded ) at the international competition of the Herbert von Karajan Foundation. He is conductor of the Yun I Sang Philharmonic Orchestra ( Kor. 윤이상 관현악단 Yun Isang kwanhyŏn aktan ), a chamber orchestra in Pyongyang, which he had founded in 1990.
