Kim Il-sung Stadium

The Kim Il-sung Stadium is equipped with a capacity of up to 100,000 spectators, the second largest stadium in the district Moranbong - guyŏk of Pyongyang, North Korea.

The stadium was built in 1926 with the name Kirim Stadium, at a time when Korea was a colony of Japan. Set up in as a ballpark. In 1969, the stadium was first renovated and renamed Moranbong Stadium. After a further renovation in 1982, it was named after Kim Il-sung, who held his first speech here in Korea after his return from exile.

Today, the stadium is primarily used for football matches and is the home ground of the Pyongyang City Sports Group. In April, it serves as the start and finish for the Pyongyang Marathon.
