Kim Ki-taek

Kim Ki- taek ( born November 6, 1957 in Anyang, Gyeonggi -do) is a South Korean poet.

Work

In his poetry, Kim focused on the physical properties of the people, especially the issues physicality and violence. His texts describe fear and coercion as the basic constituents of the human body and how physical and psychological violence on the human body left its mark. These tracks he describes as different habits that continue to serve their own self-perception of information. He studied in his poems this process. For this reason it is often referred to as an ' observer of microscopic details '.

One of his series of poems - rat ( 쥐 ), Tiger ( 호랑이 ), Snake ( 뱀 ), ox ( 소 ) - all of which are linked by a common theme, focusing on the survival instinct: the tension that the from the violence and pain arises, inherent in the struggle for survival, are represented directly and without sentimentality. The logic of survival that provides Kim's poetry with color is permeated by the presence of new life. In the career of violence and pain that is etched through the generations of our body, the poet discovers a glimpse of a wondrous new world with all their purity, their innocence and their mystery. This new world forces us to think about the violence in life.

One of his critics said that Kim both the intellect as well as the sensitivity possess that are necessary for it to deal with the problems in the current poetry. Although his poetry might lack a certain lyrical quality, they manifest but both profundity, as well as insight into his observations with which he penetrates the conventional thoughts and feelings, dim our view.
