Kimberly Elise

Kimberly Elise ( as Kimberly Elise Trammel * on April 17, 1967 in Minneapolis ) is an American actress.

Life and achievements

Elise studied film art at the Minneapolis Community College, then graduated from the University of Minnesota and studied at The American Film Institute. She played in the mid-1990s in television series such as An awful nice house and The Sentinel - In the eye of the hunter. She became famous after the movie Beloved ( 1998) by Jonathan Demme next Oprah Winfrey, Danny Glover and Thandie Newton played one of the major roles. For this role she won the Golden Satellite Award and the Chicago Film Critics Association Award; for the Acapulco Black Film Festival Award and the Image Award, she was nominated. In the movie John Q - Desperate anger (2002) she played the wife of the title character John Quincy Archibald, the Denzel Washington played. For her role she was nominated for an Image Award and a Black Reel Award. In the thriller The Manchurian Candidate (2004) she played again next Denzel Washington; for her role she was nominated for a Black Reel Award. For the main role in the film Woman Thou Art loosed (2004), she won the Black Reel Award, Independent Spirit Award and the Image Award, she was nominated. In the film Diary of a Mad Black Woman (2005) she played the lead role for which she was nominated for an Image Award and a BET Comedy Award.

Elise was married in 1989 to 2005 Maurice Oldham and has two daughters.
