Kimmo Kapanen

Kimmo Kapanen ( born September 12, 1974 in Vantaa ) is a retired Finnish professional ice hockey goaltender who spent 13 seasons in the SM- liiga, five in the Elitserien and one in the Deutsche Eishockey Liga.

Career

Kimmo Kapanen began his career in 1989 with 15 years in KalPa Kuopio. There he played for the junior team and also came to some inserts in the SM- liiga. In 1994, the Finn then HIFK Helsinki, where he remained two years. The 1996/97 season spent the goalkeeper with the Espoo Blues. His other stations were again for two years KalPa Kuopio and HPK Hämeenlinna.

For the season 2001 /02 Kapanen joined the Iserlohn Roosters in the German Hockey League. Here he completed twelve games and was the rest of the season for Timrå IK of the Swedish Elitserien active. Until 2005, he stayed with the Red Eagles and then returned again to Kuopio. His last season was 2007/ 08 when he played for Ässät Pori. Then he had to end his career due to injury.

Family

Kimmo Kapanen is the brother of Sami Kapanen, with whom he played from 1989 to 1994 together for KalPa Kuopio. Her father Hannu Kapanen was also a professional hockey player and trained them in the 1993/94 season in Kuopio.
