Kinamand

The Danish tragicomedy Chinaman ( Danish Original Title: Kinamand, TV - Title: Love sweet and sour ) was presented at the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival 2005 where it won awards. It discusses the clash of two cultures, the Chinese and Danish.

Action

Actually want the plumber Keld and his wife Rie, married for 25 years, go on holiday together. But then she leaves him and goes alone. Keld is increasingly irritated, neglected his business, messes with customers. Gradually, he must sell his equipment.

He starts a lot of time in the near China -Restaurant to spend, eat through the menu. As there is one day a broken pipe in the kitchen, Keld prevented the worst.

It develops a friendship between Keld and the restaurant owner Feng. Only Keld renovated the dilapidated kitchen for payment in kind. Then asks Feng Keld to enter into a sham marriage with his sister Ling for her to get a residence permit for Denmark. This is a fact.

Ling is very nice and does not speak Danish. The two communicate by means of a dictionary and Keld even has a Chinese language course. They fall in love.

Happiness is not permanent, Ling died of a congenital heart defect. Keld travels with the urn in their home and the ashes scattered in the river, as is the custom in her family for generations.

According to IMDB Mette Horn was originally planned as a neighbor of Keld, but was cut out. On the DVD, some of the scenes are included.
