King (crater)

King is a striking impact crater on the back of the Moon and therefore can not be observed directly from Earth. Together with the almost equally large crater Ibn Firnas, which adjoins its northeastern edge, it forms a crater pair. Northwest of the crater Lobachevskiy and at the same distance lies in the north- north-west direction of the crater Guyot.

The rim of King is substantially circular with slight variations, especially on the north side. He has no major signs of erosion. The interior walls are terraced. The crater floor shows an irregular and rugged surface. Both of these attributes are very pronounced, especially in the eastern part. The y -shaped elongated elevation in the center is part of a ridge that runs to the South Rim.
