Archy Samuel Marshall ( born August 24, 1994), better known by his stage name King Krule is a British singer, composer and musician.

Biography

Marshall attended the Forest Hill School and then studied for three years, between 2008 and 2011, at the BRIT School.

Under the name Zoo Kid, he published in April 2010 at House Anxiety Records his debut single Out Getting Ribs, which he had taken along with two friends in their own bedroom and mixed. From July 2011, Marshall went on under its new name King Krule, which is inspired by the film King Creole. On 8 November 2011, he released an eponymous EP as King Krule at True Panther Sounds. His debut album 6 Feet Beneath the Moon followed on 24 August 2013.

In December 2012, the BBC announced that he has been nominated for the Sound of 2013 poll.

His music has been compared to Morrissey and Edwyn Collins. Stylistically, he was described as a dark wave and is inspired by the conflicting influences such as Gene Vincent, Fela Kuti and the Penguin Cafe Orchestra. Marshall also makes music under the name DJ JD Sports and Edgar The Beat Maker, with whom he differs significantly from the style as King Krule.
