Kinnekulle is one of the Swedish West mesas. It is located in the historic province of Västergötland on the eastern shore of Lake Vänern between cities in the north of Mariestad and Lidköping in the south.

Kinnekulle, which reaches a height of 306 meters, has a very rich and varied vegetation. Deciduous and mixed forests alternate with pastures and farmland. On Kinnekulle there are several nature reserves. From a lookout tower you can look out over the lake Vänern after Läckö, Lidköping and Mariestad, in a southeasterly direction you can see the Billingen.

On Kinnekulle there were also several quarries ( alum shale and limestone) that are shut down partially today.

Kinnekulle is old cultural area. First of all certificates from the Middle Ages are abundant, such as the churches of Forshem and Husaby where the first Christian Swedish king Olof Skötkonung was baptized in the year 1000.

To the mountain about a 40 km long trail runs ( Kinnekulleleden ), which passes through the most beautiful nature reserves and the most remarkable cultural monuments. Since 1969 exists with Kinnekulle ring a nearby racetrack.

Kinnekulle is the area with the largest concentration of Liljestenar in Sweden.
