Kitty, Daisy & Lewis

Kitty, Daisy & Lewis is a British three -piece band consisting of siblings Kitty, Daisy and Lewis Durham. The band's music is inspired by R & B, swing, blues, country and rock and roll in the 1940s and 1950s. All three siblings are multi-instrumentalists and play among other things, Drums, guitar, ukulele, bass, trombone, accordion or harmonica.

History

Influenced by the musical tastes of their parents Ingrid Weiss ( ex- drummer of The Raincoats ) and Graeme Durham has played the entire family in their own home in the London district of Kentish Town. 2002 saw the first joint appearances in local clubs. Kitty, Daisy & Lewis at this stage were still teenagers. On stage, the trio accompanied her mother Ingrid Weiss on upright bass and her father Graeme Durham on guitar, while Kitty, Daisy & Lewis alternated to the other instruments and the microphone.

2005 and 2006, the first singles were released on the small label " Sunday Best ": " Honolulu Rock and Roll" and "Mean Son Of A Gun". The singles were produced in their own home studio. As recording equipment only equipment from the 1940s and 1950s were used. The vinyl single master were made by Lewis Durham.

This was followed by national and later international appearances include Razorlight, The Pipettes, Mika, Coldplay, and The Concretes. In 2006, she played at the Bestival and after twice at Glastonbury Festival.

Published in 2007 compilation " AZ of Kitty, Daisy & Lewis: The Roots of Rock'n'Roll", which contains the band put together music and has been very well received by the critics. 2008 appeared the first, self-titled album " Kitty, Daisy & Lewis ", which was similarly positive. Like the first singles, the album was recorded with historical art. The second studio album Smoking In Heaven, was released in spring 2011. Unlike its predecessor, it contained only original compositions. The Frankfurter Rundschau stated in a review also the second album a distinctive retro touch and found that the presentation of his own pieces, " actually hardly caused an audible difference. " 2012 worked for Kitty, Daisy & Lewis with the German Country - Rock Band " The BossHoss " together on the song" Run Run Run. " The song was released on the album " Liberty of Action ( Black Edition ) " from " The BossHoss ".
