The Pipettes
The Pipettes are a band from Brighton, England. Hallmark of the three front women are dotted dresses, tight high-heeled shoes and a synchronized choreography at the stage shows. In addition, there are the men - formation "The Cassettes " that supports the song as a backing band, and also plays the manager of the group Bobby Barry.
Although the music is reminiscent of the Pipettes girl groups of the 1950s and 1960s, they try to move away from a simple continuation. The often snappy text are set in contrast with harmonious melodies.
Band History
Your manager Bobby Barry founded the group in 2004 with the intention of reviving the traditional Phil Spector pop and him to expand modern elements. Other musical influences are girl groups of the 1960s and Motown.
The founding member Julia got out in early 2005 and joined the band The Indelicates.
In summer 2005, a few limited edition vinyl releases appeared: first " School Uniform " in Unpopular Records, then " ABC" on Transgressive. In connection succeeds the Pipettes conclude a contract with Memphis Industries, where, among other things, The Go! Team are under contract. The Pipettes published in the wake of their first high-volume single and played with bands like The Magic Numbers and British Sea Power.
In June 2006, England began a national tour of the band. The debut album " We Are The Pipettes " was published on 17 July 2006 and was recorded with the assistance of Andy Dragazis and Gareth Parton in the first two months of 2006. The first single "Dirty Mind" reached number 61 in the UK charts; the successor " Your Kisses are Wasted on Me " (published on March 27, 2006) made it to 35th place The single " Pull Shapes " which played on 15 May 2006 on BBC 1 first, and on 3 July 2006 published was, debuted at # 26 in the UK charts.
On 18 April 2008 it was announced on the official website of the band, the singers Rose Dougall and Rebecca Stephens left the band " to pursue other musical projects ." Were replaced by the two singer Ami Saunders, Saunders Gwenno sister and Anna McDonald. This means that no female member of the band from the original line (Julia, Rose, Becky ) is no longer present. In June 2007, the original drummer Joe Lean had already left the band. Drummer Jason Adelinia replaced him for almost a year and has left the band as well and was replaced by Alex White.
Worth mentioning
All band members passed as family name " Pipette". Gwennos real name is known since it occurred before the Pipettes in the Welsh television.
Singer Rose estimates the band musically as a: " I suppose [ ... ] we've obviously got all the late 50s/early 60s girl bands as a starting point, but around thatthere 's stuff before and all the way up to now did kind of filters through, I think. So we're not just fetishist about this one time ... ".
