Kiyoshi Tanabe

Kiyoshi Tanabe (Japanese田 辺 清, Tanabe Kiyoshi; born October 10, 1940 in Aomori, Aomori Prefecture, Japan) is a former Japanese flyweight boxer.

Amateur

Tanabe won the 1960 at the Olympic Games in Rome the bronze medal in the flyweight. He was able to surprise in the quarterfinals of the favored Romanians Mircea Dobrescu, two-time European Vice Champion 1955/1957 and silver medalist in 1956, defeat on points, but lost in the semifinals against Sergei Siwko from the Soviet Union.

Professional

In 1963 he became a professional. He managed the feat to lose any of his pro fights. In October 1965 he was Japanese flyweight champion. Tanabe successfully defended the title twice before he laid him. In the second title defense came to the only draw of his professional career.
