Kjetil Bjerkestrand

Kjetil Bjerkestrand ( born May 18, 1955) is a Norwegian organist, pianist and composer of film music.

Bjerkestrand, son of an organist completed his organ studies at the Academy of Music in Oslo. As a cantor, he discovered the organ improvisation instrument; later arose from this interest, inter alia, the albums Gull, røkelse above myrra and Prima luna with Tore Brunborg.

In addition, Bjerkestrand operated as a composer, arranger, music producer and studio musician. For several years he worked in Paris with the American singer Dee Dee Bridgewater together. Here he also wrote arrangements for Ray Charles. Several albums he recorded with the pop group a-ha. With their singer Morten Harket he performed in a duo. With the a-ha Magne Furuholmen pianist, he founded the group Timberland sound and he played film music, among other things Hotel Oslo and Hermetic. Even as a piano accompanist of singers Sissel Kyrkjebø and Rebekka Bakken ( I keep my cool ) he stepped on. He was also on the album Electronique Noire ( 1998) Eivind Aarset involved.

Another area Bjerkestrands is the soundtrack. He wrote, inter alia, the music for the famous children's movie Karlsson on the Roof by Astrid Lindgren.
