Klaus Vogel

Klaus Vogel ( born December 9, 1930 in Hamburg, † December 10, 2007 in Munich) was a German legal scholar. He was one of the major German constitutional law teachers and was referred to as the doyen in the field of international tax law.

Life

Vogel studied law at the University of Hamburg. In 1955 he was in Hamburg with the thesis " Public sector units in private hands. The commissioning of the economic activity of private enterprises for the purposes of public administration " Dr. iur. doctorate. In 1957 he completed his legal training with the ability to be a judge. In 1963 he habilitated with the writing " The geographical scope of administrative law standard. A study of the fundamental questions of so-called international administrative and tax law. "

In 1964 he was appointed to a professorship at the Friedrich- Alexander -University Erlangen -Nuremberg, 1966 he moved to the Ruprecht -Karls- University of Heidelberg. He was also a judge from 1970 in addition to Office at the Administrative Court of Baden -Württemberg.

In 1977, Vogel Baden-Wuerttemberg and accepted a position at the Ludwig- Maximilians- University of Munich. There he taught until his retirement in 1996 and was director of the " Centre for Research in Comparative and International Financial and Tax Law" at the University of Munich.

Bird was a guest professor at the Vienna University of Economics and later Member of the Faculty of postgraduate study international tax law.

Work

Research priorities of bird were constitutional law, police law and tax law. He was the initiator of the Munich Centre for Research in Comparative and International Tax Law.

Bird was 1974/75 Vice Chairman and 1990/91 Chairman of the Association of German constitutional law teacher. In that capacity, he was the German reunification subject of scientific research and constitutional policy initiatives. His concerns were the constitutional design of the tax law, the systematization of the financial constitution, the opening of the German law for international law and legal tackle the problem of international double taxation. Vogel has published numerous pioneering publications; He is the founder of the internationally leading commentary in the field of double taxation agreements.

As an international tax lawyer Vogel received worldwide recognition.
