Geography

Geographical location

The place is located between the lake and the Paul Strand Kletzkoer lake.

History

In the 9th century a fortified settlement was built on the site of the present Kłecko.

In the 13th century, a stone castle was built. 1255 was the settlement of Boleslaw the Pious, the municipal law and Henryk Strophisus was the first bailiff of the city. By fighting with the Teutonic Order in 1331, the city was destroyed.

1501, the city was again, this time, destroyed by a great fire, but rebuilt.

During the Swedish - Polish War, a battle took place in the city in 1656, on the Polish side led by Stefan Czarnecki.

In 1793, the city came to the Second Partition of Poland under Prussian rule.

From 1815 to 1918 Kletzko belonged to the circle of Gniezno in the district of Bromberg. 1894 a narrow-gauge railway was built to Gniezno and 1914 it was connected to the standard gauge railway. During the Wielkopolska Uprising took residents of the city participated in the fighting.

On 8 / 9 September 1939 there were skirmishes around the city between the Wehrmacht and the Polish army. On September 10, then marched the army and occupied Kłecko. On 21 January 1945 the Red Army marched into the city.

In an administrative reform, the Province Posen was formed, which included the area of the city. After its dissolution Kłecko was from 1999 part of the Wielkopolska Region.

Through the city leads the country road 190 connects Gniezno in the South- East and Wągrowiec in the North West. The airport Lawica located about 50 kilometers to the west.
