The village of Klein Hehlen was incorporated in 1939 by law to immediately adjacent town of Celle. The district is located northwest of the city center.

The Ortsrat small Hehlen has 9 members (4 CDU, SPD 3, 1 Alliance 90/The Greens and 1 Independent ).

Mayor is Klaus Didschies ( CDU).

Culture and sights

• The St. Boniface Church was built in 1657 as a cemetery chapel at Harburg mountain. In the meantime, took place from 1758 to 1902 the use as a garrison church. 300 years after the creation in 1957 of the timber-framed building was re- erected on the present site. The donated by Duke Christian Ludwig pulpit dates from 1659, the coming of Großburgwedel altar from 1690.
• The ( since reduced ) inventory founded by Duke Ernst the Confessor in the 16th century original court library was put together with the approximately 40,000 volumes of the library of the ( now defunct ) Seminary Celle- Klein Hehlen. The public, ecclesiastical special library now has a stock of 62,000 volumes, which is available free of charge to any interested.

Economy and infrastructure

• The State Fire School Celle, founded in 1931, based in the small Hehlen. Today's " Lower Saxon Academy for fire and disaster protection" with a user capacity of 160 course places is a public institution, with education and training tasks for members of volunteer, professional, compulsory and plant fire brigades.
