The Little Feldberg near glassworks in the Hessian Hochtaunuskreis is with 825.2 meters above sea level. NHN is the second highest mountain in the Taunus.

Geography

Location

The Little Feldberg is located 1.4 km south-west of the Great Feldberg's ( 881.5 m). In addition to this and the Altkönig ( 798.2 m), it forms part of the Feldberg Taunus comb the core of the Hoch-Taunus. It is located in the district of 3.2 km (each air line) west south-west to glassworks. On the northern edge of the little box Bergs is the source of the Weil and on the western flank of those Emsbach.

Nature Spatial allocation

The Little Feldberg is in the geography major unit group Taunus (No. 30) and in the main unit High Taunus ( 301) for subunit Feldberg Taunus ridge ( 301.3 ), with its landscape to the north in the Eastern to the main unit Hintertaunus (302 ) belonging subunit horse head Taunus ( 302.6 ) and to the south in the main unit Vortaunus (300) and in subunit precursor Altkönig ( 300.2 ) in the natural environment Konigsteiner Taunusfuß ( 300.20 ) drops.

At the top of the Little Berg's field is a meteorological and geophysical observatory Taunus Observatory. It was founded in 1913 from the Physics Club Frankfurt am Main and has since the founding of the Johann Wolfgang Goethe University in Frankfurt am Main in 1914 a branch of the Institute of Meteorology and Geophysics. Since 1998 there is also the Hans- Ludwig Neumann observatory.

Also on the top are a radio mast for authorities and organizations with security tasks and antenna systems of Deutsche Lufthansa and the amateur radio service for the 10 - m relay DF0MOT ( 29.670 MHz), 23 - cm - relay DB0MOT ( 1242.700 MHz) and the remote receiver of the 2- m- converter DB0FT ( 145.600 MHz ) Gr. Feldberg.

Other stations on the Kleiner Feldberg are operated by the German Weather Service, the State Office for Environment and Geology and the Center for Environmental Research.

Transport and Hiking

Slightly south-southwest of the Little Feldbergs branches from the main road 8 ( glassworks Königstein ) from the leading on his western flank by Niederreifenberg country road 3025.
