Klenovica

Klenovica is a tourist town in the Kvarner bay directly on the Croatian Adriatic coast. It is located about 50 km southeast of Rijeka. Neighboring Novi Vinodolski is about 10 km away.

History

Previous studies on the formation and evolution of Klenovica there are very few, especially from the beginning of the 20th century until today, no one has seriously dealt with.

One of the oldest documents in which you mentioned Klenovica, dates from the late 14th century. In addition, Michael Bolonić mentioned in his treatise " Uskoks and the island of Krk " Klenovica as a port, where in 1549 broke in the Uskokenführer and Captain Paul Lasinović with 300 Uskoks.

Tourism

Klenovicas main attraction are its freshwater springs that flow into the sea ( most in the Bay of Žrnovnica ). The mixing of fresh and salt water is good for the development of flora and fauna and therefore was a very fishy area.

Today, the former fishing and harbor village Klenovica lives almost exclusively on tourism, which is supported by the mild year-round climate, excellent road access and proximity to Rijeka airport on Krk.

Demography

According to the 2001 census, the municipality has 352 inhabitants.
