Primorje-Gorski Kotar County

The County of Primorje- Gorski Kotar [pri ː mɔrjɛ gɔrski kɔtar ] (Croatian Primorje- Gorski Kotar županija; German literally County coastal land - Bergland ) is a county in northwest Croatia. It lies between the border with Slovenia and Kvarner in the north Adriatic Sea. It comprises the northern part of the Croatian Littoral (Croatian Croatian Primorje ) around the city of Rijeka, the northern Adriatic islands (Krk, Cres, Rab, Losinj ) and the mountainous region of Gorski Kotar. It has an area of ​​3590 km ² and 296 195 inhabitants ( 2011 census ). Council is based in Rijeka.
