Klingnau Castle is a castle in the town in Canton Aargau Klingnau.

History

The beginnings of Castle Klingnau lie in the 13th century. After the founding of the town on December 26, 1239 Founder Ulrich of blades ordered to build a residential tower. When his son Walther, the town in 1269 sold to the Bishop of Constance, also changed the lock Klingnau the owner. Over time, it has received several extensions. It was the seat of the bailiff of the diocese of Constance, occasionally resided the Bishop here. In the 16th century the castle was so dilapidated that it was completely rebuilt in 1582. Current usage
