Knockan Crag

Knockan Crag is called a visitor complex opened in 2005, the North West Highlands Geopark, which is a disruption within a thrust zone. About a trail you reach several points explained in grounds. The uninhabited locality is situated in the southern part of the Assynt region, a district in the west of Sutherland and about 20 kilometers north of Ullapool in Scotland. The existing since 2004 Geopark is 2000 km ².

The area between West Coast and the overthrust zone Moine Thrust forms a geological feature. It was discovered in 1907 and part in the geological sense, to North America. It forms the outer edge of the Caledonian mountain belt in the north west of Scotland. In rural areas, up to 10 km wide zone more than 190 km from the north coast of Scotland runs on the Isle of Skye until after Sleat. A small open-air visitor center explains the background to the geological situation at this location.

A set of platy stones ball, The Globe, is a conspicuous point in the range of Knockan Crag. It is a spherical body on a steep slope, which was created by the artist Joe Smith.
