Kodava ( Kodava, also Kodagu, Coorgi ) is the Dravidian language of the people of the same name. It is in the district of Kodagu (formerly Coorg ) of the South Indian state of Karnataka spreads where they are talking about 166,000 people as a native language. It has strong influences from related languages, especially Kannada, which is used by the majority of the speakers as a second language. Kodava is written since the 17th century in the Kannada script, although this characteristic for two vowels of the language has no characters. Kodava includes two dialects, a northern and a southern.
