Kohoutov

Kohoutov ( German Koken ) is a municipality in the Czech Republic. It is located seven kilometers north-east of Dvůr Králové nad Labem and belongs to Okres Trutnov.

Geography

The village is situated in the valley of the brook Drahyně the Kingdom Forest. In the north, the Liščí hora rises (609 m) and in the northwest of Kamenný vrch ( 579 m).

Neighboring towns are Hajnice in the north, Mravenčí Domky and Nesytá in the northeast, Vyhnánov, Belun, Zákoutí, Saddleback and Harcov in the east, Kladruby the southeast, Kašparova Hora, Choustníkovo Hradiště and Ferdinandov in the south, RABIS and Kocbeře in the west and Nový Kohoutov in the northwest.

History

The first mention of " Kokotowye " dates from 1415. The town's name derives from the Slavic word for rooster. At Kohoutov the medieval salt route from Bohemia to Silesia led past. From an original farmstead one street village was established along the creek.

The New Koken founded later, from the mid-19th century part of the municipality Kingdom I.

For the community Kohoutov no districts are reported. To Kohoutov the settlements Kladruby include ( Kladern ), Nový Kohoutov ( New Koken ) and Vyhnánov ( Wihnan ) and the monolayer Kašparova Hora ( Kaspar Berg), RABIS ( Rabisch ) and Saddleback ( Sadel ).
