Koi No Yokan is the seventh studio album by the American rock band Deftones and was released on November 9, 2012 in Germany.

Background

Singer Chino Moreno announced Koi No Yokan with an album, may have elements of all zuvorigen the band's albums and is very melodic. He said in the foreground stand the sound landscape and not pure brutality. The album should appear on October 5, originally, the release date was postponed. The title Koi No Yokan (恋 の 予感) is Japanese and can be translated as " premonition of love".

The album was produced by Nick Raskulinecz, collaborated with the Deftones already for the previous album, Diamond Eyes, and at Paramount Studios (Los Angeles, California ) was added.

Singles

The first published song Leathers was offered from 19 September 2012 for a limited time for free download before it was published on October 8 at iTunes as the first single. There is also a cassette with a limited edition that Rosemary has a B-side.

The second single Tempest appeared on iTunes the day after on October 9, after the song was given up already on 3 October the public. The song placed in the rock airplay (# 44), the Alternative Songs ( # 20), as well as the mainstream rock charts (# 3 ) of the United States. However, until now there for any of the first two publications a success in the general charts.

Swerve City appeared on 30 March 2013 as the airplay single and Tempest as a top - ten hit the U.S. Mainstream Rock charts. After the first two singles no video was produced, were equal to the two shot for Swerve City. Originally, the band had planned to produce any music videos.

The music video for Romantic Dreams was released on September 24, 2013, after which the song also went into the Mainstream Rock charts. The peak position (# 11) was achieved only in the eighteenth week on February 22, 2014.

Koi No Yokan was rated very positively. It has often been regarded as a musical sequel to the 2010 released Diamond Eyes. Praise was, among other things, that Koi No Yokan is the old sound of the band, but still allows new influences. In a Metacritic score of 86 was reached, which corresponds to the title of " Universal Acclaim " (Eng. " universal acclaim "). The German music magazine Visions nominated the album for Album of the Year, 2012.
